Ayn Rand enjoyed the work of dramatist Terence Rattigan. One of Rattigan's best and most inspiring plays, "The Winslow Boy," has been twice adapted as a film. The most recent rendition, whose screenplay was penned by David Mamet, will air on the Cinemax cable network on the morning of September 7. It's a wonderful tale of a father's relentless, principled pursuit of justice for his son, wrongly accused of theft.

Rand also much admired "In the Heat of the Night," screenwriter Sterling Silliphant's brilliant adaptation of John Ball's superb mystery. The thoughtful, suspenseful tale throws together a black detective and a racist Southern lawman as reluctant partners. Sidney Poitier and Carroll O'Connor both received Academy Award recognition for their superb performances in this great classic, which airs on the TNT network in the wee hours of September 11th.
