Rachmaninoff at Lincoln Center this fall
As part of its 2001-2002 "Great Performers" series, Lincoln Center in New York City will host a three-part retrospective of the life and work of Sergei Rachmaninoff -- Ayn Rand's favorite composer.
Vladimir Ashkenazy will conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra of London and other renowned artists in three all-Rachmaninoff programs at the Center's Avery Fisher Hall on the evenings of September 13, 14, and 15. Each concert will be preceded by a lecture putting into perspective the enduring achievements of the great Romantic composer, conductor, and pianist. Cello, piano, and choral work will be explored on September 16 and 23; and on November 17-18 the Center will host a film series and symposium on the man and his music.
