Metropolitan Museum Hosts Vermeer Exhibit
New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art is currently hosting an exhibition of the works of Johannes Vermeer--the Dutch master painter whom Ayn Rand regarded as "the greatest of artists."
Only 35 Vermeer paintings are known to exist, and the Met exhibit will include 15 of his finest. Other artists from what is known as the Delft School, which flourished during the mid-1600's, also will be represented in the exhibition, which will run through May 27 before moving to the National Gallery in London from June 20-September 16.
The Metropolitan Museum, located at Fifth Avenue and 82nd Street, is open daily except Monday. A suggested admission donation of $10 is requested. For more information, call (212) 535-7710, or visit the museum Web site at www.metmuseum.org.
